Connie Dunn

Connie Dunn is the Director of Lifespan Religious Education at the Hopedale Unitarian Parish, where she often performs original stories for the children, youth and adults during the Time for All Ages in the Sunday Service.

Connie writes both curriculum and stories. She is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Curriculum and Resource Developers (UUCARDS), a Credentialed Religious Educator, and Workshop Leader, leading such workshops as Making Sock Puppets, Making Blacklight Puppets, Making Puppets from Trash, Magic Wands, Goddesses as Archetypes, Creating Stories, Puppet Play Writing, Freelance Writing and Play Writing. She is also a fiber artist, who makes stoles for ministers and knits prayer shawls and scarves, as well as creating unique puppets. Connie is at home creating art, writing, and performing. She and Miss Odell (a puppet) have been known to show up at talent shows and there's no predicting what Miss Odell might say: I'm 90, you know!

Connie has been working as a religious educator for more than 20 years with much of this time spent also working as a reporter and journalist. She began reading stories to children in local libraries and then added puppets and original tales. About 15 years ago, Barbara Krishnan (then a director of religious education) urged her to co-author a series of stories called Candle Stories. Since then, Connie has written other collections of children's stories including Stories from Under the Wisdom Tree, Animal Stories and Momma Dee's Stories. The stories in these collections all have Unitarian Universalists values from the 7 UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association) Principles and Purposes.

Connie has just published an electronic book of Spirit Play Stories, available at Nita Penfold's Spirit Play site: SpiritPlay.net.
