Storytelling Workshop
Learn how to tell stories. Find your strength as a storyteller using props or just as yourself. Learn some of the basic elements of a story, which helps you tell a story rather than read a story. Find out how to put yourself into the storytelling mode and readjust a story on the fly.
Performance Art as Spirituality
Learn to be soulful in an active sort of worship where you take on a character. Find your strength as a performer, whether that is storytelling, dancing or humor. Learn how to create performance art as an expression of who you are as a spiritual person. (Note: This is a good workshop for intergenerational groups, as well as for youth.)
Story Development Workshop
Learn to develop a story from a statement, use some standard storytelling techniques, and have fun creating new stories. Good stories can be reduced to a short statement; therefore, starting with a statement and creating the story from it is logical. (Note: This is a good workshop for religious educators, teachers, lay ministers and ministers.)
Street Theater Workshop
Street theater is a style of acting out social justice issues. While actively protesting, picketing, letter writing, and other social action work gets people working on particular issues, street theater is a method that educates people about the subject in an entertaining way yet informs about real issues, statistics and the emotional or social impact on society. (Note: This is a good workshop for all ages, especially youth.)
Storytelling
For Unitarian Universalist audiences - churches and religious education programs. This performance includes original stories that reinforce our 7 UU Principles and Purposes. Some of our characters include Super U, Momma Dee, Dweezel, and a host of puppet friends.
Comedy, Motivational, and Political
For mature audiences. Miss Odell, an 90-year old tells it like it almost is! She may talk about politics or anything she likes...she's 90, you know! Barack Obama can also appear at your event...think about that! And then there's Cathy, who just might say anything at all to get you off your duff and back on track...she's very motivating! And sometimes she performs with Miss Odell.
