RETURN to see more info about Prayer or Comfort Shawls by visiting Connie's Shawl Ministry Page.Connie Dunn, Fiber Artist I love nature and find that even items made from yarn can reflect parts of nature. Nothing can capture nature in its entirety...maybe not even our own eyes! But nature never fails to inspire us to create artfully in any medium! ShawlsEach shawl is one-of-a-kind piece. I create shawls with a combination of textures and colors. Yarn is not what our mothers used to use. We now have fluffy yarns, such as fun fur and eyelash. And we also have ribbon yarn to add to our pieces, as well as chenille and other thick yarns. My mother used to knit with small knitting needles that were straight and inflexible, but now we have all sorts of needles to choose from: some that are connected and very large ones. I like knitting with the large needles, because my creation comes to fruition quickly! Some people say that it looks like I'm knitting with turkey basters! Not only do I use these combinations when creating shawls, but I also use these combinations when creating scarves. If you are a knitter, I encourage you to experiment with different textures and yarns. You can crochet and knit with more than one yarn at a time...the combination will amaze you!
